A fireproof installation consists of products that have been developed and approved as fireproof installation material. OBO Bettermann's products in fire-safe electrical installations have been tested in combustion chambers above 1000 C, for energized and functioning electrical installations, even after 90 minutes. When the installation system and its function in the event of a fire are tested, the entire system is tested, which consists of the cable installation, cables, boxes and fastening. For fire-proof installation, OBO Bettermann has fire boxes and fire-proof installation material, in a large selection of different models and sizes that you can choose from. The high-temperature-resistant terminal block in the fire boxes consists of ceramic, which is the basis for a safe electrical connection. The box has a secure fixing of metal in the substrate which ensures the fire safety of the connection.

Fireproof electrical installations play an important role in buildings where many people live, for example hospitals, hotels, industries, subways, shopping centers and offices. Fire safety is achieved when the electrical circuit works in the event of a developed fire. Areas of use for this can be emergency exit lighting, talking evacuation alarms, smoke extraction fans and lift systems, etc. The longer these technical facilities work, the greater the chance for safe evacuation, rescue and firefighting. This is stated as a requirement according to SS 436 40 00 (ch. 56). "560.5.2 for safety systems that must function in the event of a fire, the following two conditions must be met: - A power source for safety systems must be chosen so that it maintains the supply for a sufficiently long time (e.g. ordinary mains). - The material must withstand the stresses due to fire for a sufficiently long time, either through its construction or through its assembly."
