The HL series is a new-generation VLD Class 2.2 solution designed to protect people and railway infrastructure by providing equipotential bonding between non-live metal parts that are not conductively interconnected under normal operating conditions. The devices are installed directly on the protected structure and connected to the track. In the event of a lightning strike or traction line failure, they provide effective protection against dangerous touch voltages. If a fault occurs, the device rapidly short-circuits the structure to the track, triggering the quick-release switch and interrupting the traction line power supply.

The HL series is resistant to vandalism, acid rain and mechanical damage and is available with nominal DC triggering voltages of 60 V, 120 V, 170 V and 350 V. Different polarity configurations are available: bidirectional, unidirectional positive and unidirectional negative.
